2024 Porchfest Activities

This year at Porchfest we’re hosting a ton of activities for all ages and bringing in environmental groups to make West Chester a greener place! For all things Porchfest, head over to our sister site: https://westchesterporchfest.com/.

1:30-3:30pm: #331 Face-painting BirlGirl Design Face Painting is back! She’s the best of the best! Come and get your face painted for a fun way to start the day!

2-4:30pm: #228 Japanese Celebration A cultural celebration presented by Professor Fumiyo Kobayashi Batta of Widener University and Professor Reiko Yoshida of Temple University. The opportunity will be given to try on kimonos, create origami frogs and other creatures, sing Japanese folk songs, and enjoy Japanese snacks!

W Barnard Street

All Day: #334 Dark Skies One of the West Chester Green Team’s initiatives is to reduce light pollution so that we can see the night sky, protect nocturnal animals, and improve our health. Find out how you can help here! Don’t forget to take a peek at the telescope!

All Day: #429 Living Landscapes & Green Wagons One of the West Chester Green Team’s initiatives is to create green spaces within the Borough. Stop by to pick up a new plant to add to your garden or see how you can help garden in West Chester.

CANCELED #414 Rosie the Dog’s Visit Rosie, the mini Goldendoodle would love to have children visit her and her owner. There will be books to read to her and she will pay you with tricks for a treat, which her owner will supply!

2-4:30pm: #412 Book Table The book table has donations from the West
Chester Public Library and may be taken home.

3:30-4pm: Everhart Park Jazz-Hip Hop Dance Fusion Class For the first time at Porchfest, Diane Matthews School of Dance Arts will host a dance class fusing jazz and hip hop together. All ages and all skill levels of dance are welcome! Show us your moves!

All Day #401 WC Cooperative Get a slice of strawberry shortcake piled high with local strawberries while finding out how to support a local supermarket within West Chester that is accessible, affordable, and sells local produce.

All Day #409 Information Booth & Merch Table Find out all the happenings during Porchfest! While you’re here, grab your 2024 T-shirt, sizes XS-2XL, and 2024 poster!

All Day #410 Train Porch Former Mayor Jordan Norley is making an effort to bring trains back to West Chester. Check out a train car that would be used to get around the Borough and find out how to make trains run through West Chester again at this porch! Train whistles and railroad caps available!

All Day #411 Citizen’s Climate Lobby Learn how you can combat climate change and encourage others to support legislation to be passed to solve climate change.

2-4:30pm: #220 Lenape Journey Sticks This Native American craft starts the WCGT honoring the Lenape this summer. The creation of a journey stick helps children recall their journeys, and become active learners as well as encouraging them to form a connection to the natural world.

2-4:30pm: #402 Taylor’s Music’s Instrument Petting Zoo Come by to get up close and personal to some of the instruments our performers are using! Great opportunity if you’re looking to get into a specific instrument.
